Preparing Your Pool for a Party or Busy Swimming Day
Prepare filtration and water chemistry before guests arrive, then check the pool again during and after heavy use.
A busy pool day adds more sunscreen, sweat and debris than a normal afternoon. Prepare ahead so the pool starts in good condition and can recover without a last-minute chemical guess.

Before guests arrive
Test sanitiser and pH, remove debris and check circulation. Empty baskets and inspect the filter. Allow enough time for any treatment to mix and meet its swimming directions before the party begins.
During swimming
Check water conditions more often than on a quiet day. Keep drinking glasses away from the pool, encourage showers and toilet breaks, and make one adult clearly responsible for supervising children at a time. Hand over that responsibility explicitly when changing supervisors.
Know when to pause
Cloudy water that hides the floor, unsuitable test results or a contamination incident means swimming should stop. Do not keep the pool open simply because guests are present.
After the last swim
Remove debris, brush busy areas and retest. Adjust treatment from the measured results and product instructions. Monitor filter pressure and clean when required. An automatic chlorinator may need a reviewed schedule, but a boost mode is not a substitute for testing.
Prepare a simple opening checklist
Before guests arrive, record the day’s water results, confirm the floor is clearly visible and check that the equipment is operating as intended. Put the net and cleaning equipment away, remove trip hazards and make sure the gate closes correctly after preparations are finished.
Agree the supervision handover
Tell the supervising adult when responsibility starts and arrange an explicit handover when they take a break. Hosting, cooking and watching children are competing tasks. Have another adult take over before the supervisor leaves the pool area, and keep young children within arm’s reach.
Plan for an interruption
Decide where guests will go if swimming has to stop. A cloudy pool, broken glass near the water or a contamination incident is easier to manage when closing the pool is already understood as a normal possibility. Do not add chemicals while people remain in the water against the product instructions.
Give the pool a proper finish
After use, inspect baskets, remove debris and retest before deciding on treatment. Leave enough time for any correction to meet its instructions before the next swim. Keep the gate secured and follow the cover’s care requirements when putting the pool away.
