Beatbot Sora 30 vs Sora 70: Is Surface Cleaning Worth It?

Pool robot buying advice

The main difference is floating debris

The Sora 30 cleans underwater and parks at the surface for retrieval. The Sora 70 also skims floating debris with JetPulse surface cleaning. If you want the robot to tackle leaves before they sink, that extra function is the first reason to consider the Sora 70.

When is the Sora 70 worth considering?

If the job you most want to reduce is netting floating leaves and insects, prioritise surface collection in your comparison. Think about when debris arrives, how your pool skimmer performs and how often someone is available to empty the robot. Also consider lifting and storage, especially if the person who will use it has difficulty handling a cleaner at the pool edge.

When is the Sora 30 enough?

If you are satisfied with your current surface skimming and mainly want help with settled dirt, walls and the waterline, start with the Sora 30. Compare the current delivered offers and decide whether the extra surface function solves a recurring problem. There is little value in paying for a function you are unlikely to use.

What about fine dust?

Both include 150 µm filtration. Beatbot describes a separate 3 µm accessory as forthcoming on its Australian pages. Confirm local availability before buying for that capability, and do not assume it is included. Tell us if your problem is fine sediment, pollen or larger debris so we can discuss the appropriate setup.

Can they clean steps and shallow platforms?

Beatbot specifies broad platforms of at least 1 m × 1 m with water deeper than approximately 20 cm. Check the dimensions of your own ledges and steps. Small stair treads should not be assumed to meet those conditions.

What can the app do underwater?

App commands require the robot to be at the surface and connected. Surface parking helps retrieval, but it is not the same feature as surface skimming. The Sora 70 also supports remote surface navigation.

What does the warranty cover?

The manufacturer lists 24 months of main body coverage for Sora 30 and 36 months for Sora 70, subject to its Australian policy. Consumables have shorter terms. A covered issue is assessed for repair or replacement under that policy.
