About Pool Perfectionists

Who we are, where we work and how our online store and local service team fit together.

What does Pool Perfectionists do?

We provide pool cleaning, water testing, green pool recovery, robot hire, equipment repairs and upgrades, plus an online shop for robotic cleaners, pool equipment, accessories and chemicals. We are Sydney based and combine local technicians with online product support.

Where are Pool Perfectionists based?

We are based in the Sutherland Shire in Sydney. Our local service work is focused on the Sutherland Shire and selected Sydney suburbs, while suitable products can be shipped more broadly.

Do you service all of Sydney?

We service a wide range of Sydney suburbs, with our strongest local coverage around the Sutherland Shire. We also work across selected areas of St George, the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and other Sydney locations depending on the job. If your suburb is not listed, contact us and we will confirm availability.

Are you a pool shop or a mobile pool service?

Both parts of the business work together. We sell pool products online and provide mobile technicians for cleaning, fault finding, repairs and upgrades. This means the product advice is grounded in real pool work, not just a catalogue.

Can I call you for advice before buying something?

Yes. Call 1300 152 135, email enquiries@poolperfectionists.com, or book a virtual pool consultation if the question needs a closer look at your pool or equipment.

Pool cleaning and regular maintenance

Regular cleans, one off visits, seasonal care and what happens during a service.

Do you offer regular pool cleaning?

Yes. We provide scheduled pool cleaning and maintenance with water testing, physical cleaning and equipment checks. The right frequency depends on season, pool use, debris load and the condition of the equipment.

Can I book a one off pool clean?

Yes. One off cleans are useful before guests arrive, after storms, for property inspections, when a pool has been neglected, or when you simply need help getting it back under control.

What is included in a normal pool clean?

A typical visit can include skimming, brushing, vacuuming, emptying baskets, water testing, chemical adjustment, checking filtration, checking the pump and chlorinator, and reporting any equipment concerns. The exact scope depends on the service booked.

Are chemicals included in regular cleaning?

Our standard regular cleaning is priced separately from chemicals unless a package specifically says otherwise. Any chemicals required are recorded and charged according to the service arrangement.

How often should my pool be serviced?

There is no single frequency that suits every pool. Summer generally needs more attention than winter, especially when water temperature, swimming load and storms increase. We can recommend a schedule based on your pool rather than forcing a fixed routine.

Do you provide annual pool care packages?

Yes. We offer ongoing pool care options for owners who want regular cleaning, water care and equipment oversight organised across the year. Ask us which current package best suits your pool and how much involvement you want.

Can you prepare a pool for a party, open home or inspection?

Yes. We can focus on presentation and water condition, and we can also quote for the surrounding pool area including suitable paving, glass fencing, coping, decking and visible debris.

Do you clean pool surrounds as well as the pool?

Yes. Our pool area cleaning service can include suitable pavers, hard surfaces, glass fencing, coping, decking, furniture and the immediate pool zone. We assess the surface first because different materials need different cleaning methods.

Green pools, cloudy water and pool recovery

Help when the pool has turned, filtration is struggling, or normal maintenance is no longer enough.

Can you fix a green pool?

Yes. Green pool recovery is one of our core services. We identify what caused the algae, correct the water chemistry, remove debris, clean the pool and check the filtration and sanitising equipment so the problem is less likely to return.

Why did my pool suddenly go green?

Common causes include low sanitiser, poor circulation, a dirty or undersized filter, a chlorinator problem, high phosphate load, heavy rain, warm weather or a period without maintenance. Treating the water without fixing the cause can lead to the same problem returning.

Can you fix cloudy pool water?

Yes. Cloudy water can be caused by chemistry, fine suspended particles, algae, filtration issues or poor circulation. We test the water and equipment before deciding whether the answer is balancing, filtration work, clarification, flocculation or another treatment.

Do you drain pools?

Yes, where draining is appropriate and can be done safely. Draining a pool needs care because groundwater pressure, hydrostatic valves, pool construction and surface condition can create risks. We assess the pool before recommending a full drain.

Do you acid wash pools?

We can assess acid washing and other surface cleaning options. Acid washing is not suitable for every finish and aggressive treatment can damage worn surfaces, so we recommend the least destructive method that can realistically achieve the result.

Can you help if a pool is losing water?

Yes. We can inspect common pool and equipment causes and help determine the next step. Some leaks require specialist pressure testing or plumbing work, which we can coordinate where appropriate.

Repairs, fault finding and upgrades

Pumps, filters, chlorinators, plumbing, heating, controls and complete equipment pad upgrades.

What pool equipment can you repair or replace?

We work with pumps, filters, chlorinators, salt cells, valves, pipework, heating, dosing equipment, timers, controls and related pool equipment. The best solution may be a repair, replacement component or complete upgrade depending on age and condition.

Can you replace just one failed piece of equipment?

Yes. We can replace a single pump, filter, chlorinator or other component, but we also check compatibility with the existing system so a new part is not undermined by poor flow, undersized filtration or unsuitable plumbing.

Can you upgrade the whole pool equipment pad?

Yes. For larger upgrades we look at pump flow, filter capacity, chlorinator sizing, heating demand, pipework, power requirements and controls as one system. This is often better than choosing each box in isolation.

Do you coordinate plumbing and electrical work?

Yes. Where licensed plumbing or electrical work is required, we can coordinate it as part of the installation scope. Any additional electrical work should be identified and approved before it proceeds.

Can you diagnose low flow or a pump that will not prime?

Yes. Possible causes include blocked baskets, air leaks, valves, pump issues, blocked plumbing, filter restriction or water level. We work through the system to isolate the likely cause rather than replacing parts at random.

Can you troubleshoot a filter that is sending sand or debris back into the pool?

Yes. Sand in the pool can point to damaged filter internals, media issues, a multiport valve problem or another filtration fault. We can inspect the system and recommend repair or replacement.

Pool equipment

Pumps, filters, chlorinators, heaters, dosing equipment and the wider equipment range.

What types of pool equipment do you sell?

Our range includes pool pumps, filters, salt chlorinators, dosing equipment, heat pumps, selected automation and control products, leaf canisters, commercial equipment, robotic cleaners and associated accessories.

How do I choose the right pool pump?

The pump needs to suit the pool volume, plumbing, filter, required flow and operating schedule. Bigger is not automatically better. An oversized pump can create unnecessary pressure, noise and power use, while an undersized pump may not circulate or filter properly.

Should I choose a single speed or variable speed pump?

Variable speed pumps can reduce energy use and noise by running at lower speeds for normal circulation, then increasing flow when needed. A single speed pump can still be appropriate in some systems. We recommend based on the actual hydraulic requirements.

What filter should I choose?

Filter choice depends on pool size, debris load, available space, maintenance preference and pump flow. We sell cartridge and media filter options, including residential and commercial ranges. Correct sizing matters more than simply matching an old model number.

How do I know if my filter is too small?

Signs can include rapid pressure rise, frequent cleaning or backwashing, poor clarity, restricted flow and difficulty recovering after storms or algae. We can check whether the filter capacity suits the pool and pump.

What is a salt chlorinator?

A salt chlorinator converts dissolved salt in the pool water into chlorine for ongoing sanitising. It reduces manual chlorine dosing, but the pool still needs correct water balance, appropriate salt level and routine cell maintenance.

Do you sell chlorinators with acid dosing?

Yes. We stock selected chlorination and dosing systems that can automate sanitiser production and pH control. Compatibility, probe placement, pool volume and plumbing configuration should be checked before installation.

Do you sell Madimack pool equipment?

Yes. Our Madimack range includes selected pumps, filters, chlorination and dosing equipment, heat pumps and robotic cleaners. We can also help with sizing and installation planning.

How do I choose the right pool heat pump?

Heat pump sizing depends on pool volume, target temperature, climate, season, cover use, exposure and how quickly you want the pool heated. A unit chosen only from pool litres can be misleading, so we recommend looking at the whole heating requirement.

Can you install equipment I buy from Pool Perfectionists?

Yes, in our service area and where the product is suitable for the existing system. Installation pricing depends on plumbing changes, valves, electrical requirements, access and commissioning.

Robotic pool cleaners

How robots work, how to choose one, and what to expect from cordless and corded cleaners.

What is a robotic pool cleaner?

A robotic pool cleaner is an independent cleaner with its own motor, filtration and navigation. It collects debris into its own basket or filter rather than relying on the pool pump and filter for the cleaning cycle.

Why choose a robot instead of a suction cleaner?

Robots can provide stronger dedicated cleaning, finer filtration and more systematic coverage without loading the pool filtration system. Many models also clean walls and the waterline. Suction cleaners can still be a simple and effective option for some pools.

Should I buy a cordless or corded pool robot?

Cordless robots remove the floating power cable and are easy to drop in and retrieve, while corded robots provide continuous mains power and can be ideal for long or repeated cycles. The better choice depends on pool size, cleaning frequency, weight, storage and how much you value cable free operation.

Do all robots clean the waterline?

No. Some clean only the floor, others clean floor and walls, and higher capability models can scrub the waterline as well. Always check the cleaning zones listed for the specific model.

Can a robot clean steps, benches and shallow ledges?

Some newer robots are designed to handle shallow platforms and complex pool geometry, but performance varies by model, ledge depth, shape and surface. Steps are one of the hardest areas for any robot, so we recommend choosing based on your actual pool layout.

Will a robotic cleaner work in a fibreglass pool?

Many robots are suitable for fibreglass, concrete, pebble, tiled and vinyl pools. The important factors are the manufacturer approved surfaces, wall angle, waterline shape and traction requirements.

Are pool robots suitable for saltwater pools?

Yes, many residential pool robots are designed for normal salt chlorinated pools. Rinse the cleaner with fresh water after use and follow the manufacturer’s storage and water chemistry guidance.

Can I leave a pool robot in the water all the time?

Generally we recommend removing and rinsing the robot after cleaning unless the manufacturer specifically supports in pool storage. Long term exposure to chemicals and heat can accelerate wear.

How often should I run my robot?

It depends on debris load and season. Many owners run a robot several times a week in summer and less often in winter. Heavy leaf fall, storms or frequent swimming can justify extra cycles.

How do I clean a robot filter basket?

Remove the basket or filter after the cycle, empty debris and rinse it thoroughly with fresh water. Fine filters may need a more detailed rinse to restore flow. Always follow the instructions for the model.

What size robot do I need?

Choose based on pool length or area, cleaning zones, runtime, debris type and pool shape. A large pool with steps and shallow areas may need a more capable robot than a simple rectangular pool of the same volume.

Can you help me compare pool robots before I buy?

Yes. Tell us your pool size, surface, shape, debris type and whether you want floor only, walls, waterline, surface skimming, app control or cordless operation. We can narrow the choice quickly.

Can I use a hire robot in a saltwater pool?

Yes, provided the selected model is suitable for your pool. Normal salt chlorinated pools are compatible with many robots. We will confirm any restrictions when the booking is arranged.

Pool chemicals and water care

Chlorine, acid, balancing products, algaecides, clarifiers, minerals, salt, spa care and water testing.

What types of pool chemicals do you sell?

Our chemical range includes liquid and dry chlorine, pH products, alkalinity and calcium balancers, acid, algaecides, clarifiers, flocculants, salt, minerals, specialty pool chemicals, non chlorine sanitisers, spa chemicals, chemical testing appliances and testing consumables.

Do you deliver pool chemicals?

Yes, selected pool chemicals are available for Sydney delivery. Chemical delivery is restricted compared with normal parcel freight, so availability depends on product, location and safe transport requirements.

Do you offer same day chemical delivery?

Same day delivery is available on eligible chemical orders in the supported Sydney area when ordered before 3pm on weekdays, subject to stock and delivery capacity. Look for the same day delivery message on applicable products and the chemical category page.

What is the difference between liquid chlorine and dry chlorine?

Both add sanitiser, but they behave differently in water and add different secondary chemistry. The best choice depends on your pool, chlorination system, stabiliser level and how the product will be stored and dosed.

What does pool acid do?

Acid is mainly used to lower pH and, depending on the treatment, can also affect total alkalinity. It must be handled carefully and should never be mixed directly with chlorine or other pool chemicals.

What does alkalinity up do?

Alkalinity products raise total alkalinity, which helps buffer pH and reduce rapid pH movement. The correct target depends on pool type and sanitising system.

When do I need calcium hardness increaser?

Calcium hardness may need to be raised when water is too soft for the pool surface or equipment. The correct level depends on the pool finish and overall water balance.

What does algaecide do?

Algaecide can help prevent or control algae, but it is not a substitute for correct chlorine, circulation and filtration. A green pool usually needs a complete treatment plan rather than one bottle of algaecide.

What is pool clarifier?

Clarifier helps very fine suspended particles combine into larger particles so the filter can capture them more easily. It can improve cloudy water when filtration is working properly.

What is the difference between clarifier and flocculant?

Clarifier helps the filter capture fine material while the system continues operating. Flocculant is used differently, often settling particles so they can be vacuumed to waste. The correct treatment depends on the filter type and the cause of the cloudiness.

How much salt should I add to my pool?

The amount depends on pool volume, current salt level and the chlorinator’s required operating range. Test first and calculate the required increase rather than adding bags by guesswork.

Do you sell pool water testing products?

Yes. Our store includes chemical testing appliances and consumables, including testing disks and related water analysis products. For a service visit, our technicians can also test and interpret the water for you.

Can I mix pool chemicals together before adding them?

No. Never mix pool chemicals together unless the manufacturer’s instructions specifically require it. In particular, chlorine and acid can create dangerous gas when combined. Add products separately and follow the label instructions.

Warranties, returns and robot repairs

What happens after purchase if something goes wrong.

Do new pool robots come with a warranty?

Yes. New robots include the applicable manufacturer warranty for that model, plus your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Warranty length and process vary by brand and model.

Who do I contact if a robot bought from you develops a fault?

Contact Pool Perfectionists first. We can help locate the order, run safe troubleshooting checks and coordinate the appropriate supplier, manufacturer or authorised repair pathway.

What information should I send with a warranty request?

Please send your order number, robot brand and model, serial number, purchase date if known, a description of the fault, any error code, and clear photos or video showing what the robot is doing.

Do I need the original box for a warranty claim?

Not necessarily, but the robot must be packed safely if it needs to be transported. Keeping the original box is useful because it is usually the safest fit for the cleaner and accessories.

Will a faulty robot always be replaced?

No. The outcome depends on the brand, diagnosis, warranty terms and consumer rights. It may be repaired, receive a replacement component, be replaced, or be returned if testing finds no fault.

What usually is not covered by a robot warranty?

Common exclusions include accidental damage, misuse, unauthorised repairs, incorrect storage, chemical damage and normal wear to consumable components such as filters, brushes, tracks or rollers. Exact terms vary by brand.

What if my robot is outside the written warranty period?

Contact us anyway. Australian Consumer Law may still be relevant depending on the circumstances. If it is not a warranty matter, we can help with parts, paid repair pathways or replacement advice.

Where can I read the detailed warranty information?

Visit our Pool Robot Warranties and Repairs page for current brand specific guidance covering BWT, Maytronics, Zodiac, Beatbot and the general claim process.
