Dolphin X30 vs X40 Plus
The same core cleaning technology, with practical extras
The Dolphin X30 and X40 Plus share the features that do the everyday cleaning: active scrubbing, CleverClean navigation, PowerStream mobility and cleaning across the floor, walls and waterline.
The X40 Plus adds a caddy and a coarse filter basket inside the main basket. Both current Australian models have a 17 metre swivel cable and MyDolphin Plus app control. The X40 Plus also offers more cleaning cycle options.

1. Cable length
Maytronics lists a 17 metre cable with a swivel on both current models. Cable length is therefore the same in this comparison. Both are rated for pools up to 15 metres long.
2. The X40 Plus includes a caddy
The X40 Plus comes with a wheeled caddy for moving and storing the cleaner, cable and power supply together. It is a useful extra if you keep the robot in a shed or garage between cleans. A caddy is an optional accessory for the X30.
3. The X40 Plus has a coarse basket inside the main basket
The X40 Plus has an extra mesh basket inside its main filter basket. This coarse, or rough, insert catches larger debris before it reaches the outer ultra fine filter panels. The two layers work together to collect larger debris and fine dirt during the same clean.
The X30 uses interchangeable fine and ultra fine filters. You select the filter that suits the debris in your pool. Both models can collect fine dirt; the practical difference is the X40 Plus’s integrated inner basket.
What stays the same?
Both use active scrubbing, CleverClean navigation and PowerStream mobility to clean the floor, walls and waterline. Both weigh 7.5 kg and support MyDolphin Plus app control, including remote drive and weekly scheduling.
There is one further control difference: the X30 has a two hour cycle, while the X40 Plus offers one, one and a half, two or two and a half hour cycles, plus a delayed start.
Which should you choose?
Choose the X30 if you want the shared cleaning features and app control, and do not need an included caddy or integrated coarse basket.
Choose the X40 Plus if you value the caddy, the extra inner basket and the flexibility to select a cleaning cycle length.
